Noted dramatist Srirangam Rangamani’s Imsai Purushan Irandam Manaivi was staged at Rani Seethai Hall under the auspicies of Brahma Gana Sabha on Saturday. The play staged by Arangan Arangam drama troupe, has ‘Joker Thulasi’, ‘Auditor’ Sridhar, Shanthi Ganesh, Viswanathan, Thangamani Prabhu among others in the cast.
Produced by ‘Auditor’ Sridhar, Rangamani and Ramnath, the drama has compilation of music by Sridhar himself. It has been written and directed by Srirangam Rangamani.
Speaking about the play, Sridhar says, ‘at a time when comedies are ruling the roost, we wanted to come out with a play that would entertain and also educate the masses. Imsai..... deals with issues in a lighter vein in such a way as to sustain the interest.’
Sridhar is no novice to acting. He has had a long association with the famed AVM Production House. Having been their financial consultant Sridhar enjoys a good rapport with AVM Saravanan, Balasubramaniam and Guhan. It was while shooting for Manakara Kaaval produced by AVM, that Sridhar got acquainted with Vijayakanth. So impressed was the actor with Sridhar that he urged him to act in his movies.
The actor in Sridhar came out with the film Bharathan. He played a negative role in the movie at Vijayakanth’s insistence. Thereafter Sridhar was flooded with offers and has since appeared in several films including Vallarasu, Maya Baazar 1995 andl the recent Madhavan starrer Evano Oruvan.
A connossieur of stage plays, Sridhar was part of Y Gee Mahendra’s drama troupe and has played prominent roles in several plays. Kavala Kavala was one among them in which Sridhar played the lead.
His association with Hansa Vision took care of his entry to small screen. He is a busy TV artiste playing key roles in several soaps.
Sridhar says, ‘I thank Almighty for the strides I have made in my life. I pursue my auditing and acting careers with the same glee and enthusiasm. The urge to be creative is something which keeps me going.’
